The Duh Page

Being a planned collection (created 4 Sep 06) of, well, Duh Anecdotes from around the net. There are plenty of Duh Anecdotes already online about tech support callers. Here's one such collection. Are they true? Probably most of them. At any rate, this page won't duplicate those efforts. Are the tales on this page true? Probably most of them. Unless so indicated, these are not Blinky's sightings.

At a science fiction convention, I met a young lady who didn't believe in western medicine. She said that western medicine only treats symptoms, not causes. I pointed out that western medicine, and only western medicine, has come up with vaccines that prevent people from contracting smallpox, polio, measles, mumps, rubella... She gave me a confused look and said, "But nobody gets those diseases anymore."

Blinky   Back around 1991 I was planning on picking someone up for lunch at the apartment complex she managed. I don't know why I asked her if her building was on the north or south side of the street, since in Los Angeles that's indicated by whether the street address is odd or even; I was probably just making phone conversation. At any rate, her reponse was, "It depends on which way you're coming from."
